Storytelling isn't just about words that go on a paper. It isn't just listening to someone vividly describing what they saw, what they felt, what they heard. Student Life photography tells a story and makes the memories that cause people to look back at their yearbooks and remember exactly how they felt about a moment in time. My student life photography has captured moments that simply cannot be described in words such as: the emotions of a basketball player after making the buzzer-beater shot of a lifetime, the school resource officer who gets a standing ovation when he enters the pep rally on a scooter, the students who are thrilled to meet a nationally recognized musical artist. Those are the moments I hope to capture.
Practice and Play
My main focus in this picture was unique angles with the students learning from Two-Way Crossing. I focused on the guitar held by one of the band members, and let the caption tell the rest of the story.

You've Got Something on Your Face
Be Louder
You're Welcome Here
My focus when taking pictures in this area was to get photos of new students coming into the school and getting their expression as they saw their home for the next three or four years. Instead, I got a picture of our mascot cheering on and welcoming the students as they walk in the door, a picture that I believe tells a story.

Money Raisin'
When the student council set up a week in honor of one of the students who had cancer, I was shocked but also impressed. During lunch and after school, seniors were selling food and drinks to raise money for her medical expenses. While covering it, I noticed how the students looked genuinely happy to be helping out a fellow classmate, and I wanted to focus that into a single photo.

Just Another Pretty Face
Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh are hugely motivational people through their music, which is even better considering that they are North Dakota Natives. When I went to take pictures, I wanted to get pictures of them both and hopefully illustrate the harmony that they experienced together.
